Creative Community for Peace on Jewish indigeneity

Last week, Creative Community For Peace hosted a conversation as part of its dispelling myths series, with ICFI’s Dr Sheree Trotter and Dr Saba Soomekh, who is the Associate Director at the human rights organization American Jewish Committee-Los Angeles and a lecturer at The Academy for Jewish Religion-CA, where she teaches Religious Studies and Middle Eastern History courses.

Creative Community For Peace brings the intersection of art and Israel, under the belief that music, sports, film, and television has the power to bring people together of all backgrounds.

Dr Soomekh presented an overview of the history of the Jewish people in the land of Israel, presenting Biblical, genetic and archeological evidence and Dr Trotter (beginning at 23 minutes) discussed the way in which indigeneity is being weaponized against Israel, the legal and political issues and why it’s important for Jews to claim their  indigeneity to Israel.
