ICFI has had a busy start to 2022.

In January, Alfred and Sheree were invited by the Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation and the Canadian Institute for Jewish Research (CIJR) to present a webinar on the topic "Understanding Jewish Indigeneity: Indigenous New Zealanders Speak". The webinar was co-sponsored by twenty-seven international organisations. There was great interest in the webinar with over 600 registrants from as far afield as Afghanistan, Brazil, Cameroon, Ghana, India, Lithuania, Switzerland, Italy, as well as US, Canada, South Africa and Australia. The presentation was very well received.

As a result of the above event, Sheree has been asked to present a webinar for the Creative Communities for Peace series ‘Dispelling the Myths’.

An invitation has also been received for Sheree to travel to speak at Jews Talk Justice Lab, organised by the Tel Aviv Institute. While she can’t be there in person, she will attend by Zoom. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook for more information on this event.

CONFRONTING AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL’S FALSEHOODS

The directors co-signed a letter, along with several other organizations to the Deputy Chair of Amnesty International, Peter Fa’afiu, expressing grave concern at the AI report, ‘Israel’s Apartheid Against Palestinians: Cruel System Of Domination And Crime Against Humanity’. The report is replete with lies, false accusations, and racism and is a stain on the organisation. We have urged Mr Fa’afiu to distance himself from it.

Locally, ICFI is working with iwi and various organizations to advocate and educate. We will be in Rotorua on 21 May for a Hui. Please mark your calendars. Further details will be announced on on our website and on Facebook.
